West Ham broke their four-game winless run in the Premier League as they edged Nottingham Forest in a five-goal thriller at the London Stadium. The result took David Moyes’ side to 9th in the standings ahead of the November international break.
A mistake from Nicolas Dominguez allowed the Hammers to go ahead in the 3rd minute. The French midfielder’s pass hit the back of the unwitting Ibrahima Sangare and fell straight to Lucas Paqueta, whose precise finish found the bottom corner.
Forest equalised just before half time with Taiwo Awoniyi slotting home from close range after Alphonse Areola had parried Morgan Gibbs-White’s initial effort into his path.
Anthony Elanga put Forest ahead in the 63rd minute but West Ham equalised almost instantly, with Jarrod Bowen nodding home from James Ward-Prowse’s corner.
Tomas Soucek nearly put West Ham ahead twice, but was denied on both occasions- once by the woodwork and the second by Odysseas in the Forest goal. He however finally got the goal he was threatening to score, nodding home in the 88th minute from another Ward-Prowse set piece.
West Ham will travel to Turf Moor to take on Burnley in their next game while Forest will host Brighton.
