Viktoria Plzen 1-2 Manchester United Match Report

A brace from Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund helped Manchester United come from behind to beat Viktoria Plzen in their Europa League clash on Thursday evening. The two teams were both unbeaten in the league phase before this fixture, and the Red Devils needed a late winner here to hand Plzen their first defeat of the UEL campaign.

United came into this clash on the back of successive league defeats at the hands of Arsenal and Nottingham Forest, and went behind after a bad mistake from keeper Andre Onana. The Cameroonian international made a mess of a backpass to teammate Matthijs de Ligt, and Plzen pounced to score the opener through Matej Vydra.

United equalised shortly after the hour mark, with Hojlund showing great reflexes to be first to the ball after some good work from Antony and Amad Diallo in the build-up.

His second of the evening was even better, with the Dane showing fine technique to control Bruno Fernandes’ pass before scoring-a typical centre-forward’s goal.

Amorim’s United are now seventh in the UEL league phase standings with two games to play, and will square off against rivals Man City in the Manchester derby this weekend.
