Tottenham 1-0 Manchester United Match Report

Spurs completed a rare league double over Manchester United as they beat the Red Devils 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday evening. The result also saw Ange Postecoglou’s men leapfrog Ruben Amorim’s charges in the league standings.

United were badly hit due to injury, with the likes of Mainoo, Amad, Collyer, Ugarte and Yoro all unavailable to the visitors for this trip to North London.

Spurs scored the only goal of the game early in the first half. Lucas Bergvall’s first-time shot was parried away by United keeper Andre Onana, but James Maddison was quicker than United’s defenders to the rebound, and duly netted from close range.

Spurs also had returning goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario to thank for a rare clean sheet. The Italian was in top form under the sticks, denying the Red Devils on a number of occasions. United did have their chances, but fluffed their lines in front of goal, with Alejandro Garnacho again the main culprit.

The Red Devils now have to pick themselves up for a trip to Goodison Park where Everton, managed by former United boss David Moyes, await them. Spurs have an easier game in the form of an away fixture at relegation threatened Ipswich Town.
