Manchester United 3-2 Bodo Glimt Match Report

A brace from Danish forward Rasmus Hojlund helped Manchester United beat Bodo/Glimt 3-2 in the Europa League in what was new manager Ruben Amorim’s first home game as Red Devils boss.

United took the lead after just 49 seconds, with Glimtgoalkeeper Nikita Haikin making a mess of Jostein Gundersen’s back-pass. Hojlund’s pressing saw the keeper make a mistake under pressure, and Alejandro Garnacho was on hand to send the ball into an empty net.

The visitors however hit back with two excellent goals- the first a crisp finish from Hakon Evjen from the edge of the area, and the second from Philip Zinckernagel, with Tyrell Malacia unable to keep pace with the Danish wingerfollowing a long ball.

Glimt were their own worst enemies- they again gave away possession cheaply and a lovely finish from Hojlund drew United level. The Red Devils then started the second half just as they had in the first one- with a goal, and although there were suspicions of Hojlund being an offside, VAR allowed the goal to stand.

Despite some late pressure from the Norwegian champions, United held to claim a narrow 3-2 victory. Their next game is in the Premier League against Everton on Sunday afternoon.
