Wataru Endo scored his first ever Liverpool goal as the Reds beat French side Toulouse 5-1 to make it three wins out of three in their Europa League clash. It was also Toulouse’s first defeat in the competition- they had drawn with USG and beaten LASK in their previous two games.
The Reds took only nine minutes to go 1-0 up, with a fine solo effort from Diogo Jota putting them ahead. Toulouse equalised in the 16th minute through Thijs Dallinga, but Endo’s superb header restored Liverpool’s lead in the 30th minute.
Three minutes later, Curtis Jones’ first-time shot was blocked, but the ball fell to Darwin Nunez, who beat the keeper at his near post.
Toulouse were left ruing a big miss at the start of the second half- Caomhin Kelleher’s error gave Gabriel Suazo a golden opportunity, but his effort was blocked by Trent Alexander Arnold.
The Reds got their fourth through Ryan Gravenberch, with the Dutch midfielder netting after Nunez’s initial strike had hit the post with the goal at his mercy. Mo Salah completed the rout in second half stoppage time.
Liverpool will now play Nottingham Forest at home this weekend, while TFC will be away at Montpellier.
