Liverpool maintained their 100% home league record as they beat Fulham in a seven-goal thriller at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. The Reds had to dig deep though, and had Wataru Endo and Trent Alexander-Arnold to thank for late goals as they came from 3-2 down to win 4-3.
Alexander Arnold’s fabulous free kick- it however went down as a Bernd Leno own goal in the end, put the Reds ahead in the 20th minute of the game. Ex-Liverpool youngster Harry Wilson then equalised for Fulham, but a long-range stunner from Alexis MacAllister restored the Reds’ advantage.
Caoimhin Kelleher didn’t exactly cover himself in glory for the Wilson goal, and another mistake from the stand-in goalie saw Tete equalise for Fulham just before half time.
Bobby De Cordova-Reid’s header gave Fulham a shock lead, but excellent finishes from Endo and Alexander-Arnold saved Liverpool’s blushes as they ran out 4-3 winners.
The result saw the Reds overtake defending champions Man City in the league standings, with the latter drawing 3-3 with Tottenham in their weekend game.
Liverpool will now play struggling Sheffield United on the road in midweek, while Fulham will square off against Nottingham Forest at Craven Cottage.
