Young right back Conor Bradley scored his first Liverpool goal as the Reds thrashed Chelsea 4-1 to end January on a high. Jurgen Klopp’s side dominated all aspects of the game against Mauricio Pochettino’s men, whom they will again meet in the League Cup final in three weeks’ time.
Chelsea mustered just four shots in the entire game, while Liverpool managed seven times as many- a whopping 28 attempts. The Reds took the lead through a nice bit of individual skill from Diogo Jota and doubled their advantage when Bradley produced a fine finish from the edge of the area.
Darwin Nunez had a chance to put the hosts 3-0 up before half time, but his penalty hit the post. Frustrated with his side’s ineptitude, Pochettino rang in the changes at half time, and two of those subs nearly combined for the Blues’ first after the interval, but Mykhailo Mudryk fluffed his lines in front of goal.
Midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai’s header from Bradley’s pin-point cross made it 3-0 and while Christopher Nkunku pulled one back for the Blues, Colombian forward Luis Diaz restored the home side’s three-goal advantage in the 79th minute.
Liverpool will now face Arsenal this weekend while Chelsea will host Wolves.
