Fulham sent Leicester into the relegation zone with a 5-3 rout of the Foxes at Craven Cottage. Dean Smith’s side were trailing 5-1 with ten minutes to go, but goals from James Maddison and Harvey Barnes helped lend an air of respectability to the scoreline.
A bad error from goalkeeper Daniel Iversen, who failed to collect Willian’s free kick, saw Fulham go 1-0 up in the 10th minute. Carlos Vinicius made it 2-0 in the 18th minute and skipper Tom Cairney struck on either side of half time to make it 4-0 to the home side.
Barnes pulled one back on the hour mark, but Jamie Vardy missed a glorious opportunity to make it 4-2 when he fluffed his lines from the penalty spot, with Bernd Leno saving his spot kick. Leicester were made to pay as a fine long range effort from Willian made It 5-1 and despite the two late goals, Fulham were convincing winners.
This defeat, coupled with victories for Forest and Everton, sent the Foxes into the drop zone, and with European hopefuls Liverpool and Newcastle as their next two opponents, the 2016 league champions need something miraculous to avoid relegation to the Championship next season.
