Chelsea’s five game winning streak across all competitions was halted on Sunday afternoon as they had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge.
Most of Chelsea’s attempts in the first half were from Noni Madueke, but the winger was unable to find the back of the net as the first half ended 0-0. Forest however took the lead just after the interval, with Chris Wood sliding in Nikola Milenkovic’s headed flick-on.
Madueke’s quest for a goal ended nine minutes later as he finally scored after cutting inside. Forest then had James Ward Prowse sent off for a second bookable offence- he handled the ball to stop a counter attack after previously having been carded for fouling Cole Palmer in the first half.
Both goalkeepers were called into action towards the end- Forest keeper Matz Sels did well to deny Cole Palmer and Christopher Nkunku’s point-blank header while at the Chelsea end, Robert Sanchez produced a terrific instinctive save from NFFC substitute Neco Williams’ effort.
Ten-man Forest could’ve also won it at the end through Jota Silva, but Sanchez came to his side’s rescue again, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Chelsea’s next clash after the international break is a tasty away one against leaders Liverpool.
