Juventus 2-0 Man City Match Report

Manchester City’s Champions League hopes took a huge hit as Juventus upset Pep Guardiola’s side 2-0 in Turin. The defeat in Italy sees City slump to 22nd in the table, with two fixtures still left for them in the group phase, one of which is away at Paris Saint-Germain.

The first half was a cagey affair, with chances at a premium for both sides. The only notable one before the interval went to Erling Haaland in the 39th minute, but the Norwegian striker was denied from close range by Juve keeper Michele Di Gregorio.

Juve took the lead against the run of play early in the second half. Ederson parried away Gatti’s first-time effort, but Josko Gvardiol’s attempted clearance didn’t travel too far, and the ball fell to Kenan Yildiz, whose cross was nodded in by Dusan Vlahovic.

Di Gregorio produced another fine save, this time from Ilkay Gundogan, to keep Juve in the lead. The Bianconeri wrapped things up with a fine-counter attacking move in the 75th minute. City were badly exposed in midfield and the move culminated in a fine acrobatic volley from midfielder Weston McKennie.

City now have to pick themselves up for the Manchester derby this weekend while Juventus will square off against Venezia.
