Chelsea maintained their 100% record in the Conference League this season as they beat Heidenheim 2-0 in Germany. The victory was a hard fought one for the Blues, and was also Heidenheim’s first defeat in the competition- the German outfit had won all three of their games coming into this clash.
Both Chelsea goals came after the interval, and both were assisted by Jadon Sancho. The first was scored by Christopher Nkunku, who continued his excellent record of scoring in every UECL game this season with a lovely finish on 51 minutes.
The second was scored by Mykhailo Mudyrk- another excellent finish, with the Ukrainian rifling his shot into the roof of the net to confirm all three points for the Blues.
As mentioned earlier, it wasn’t easy for the Blues, and Filip Jorgensen had a busy night between the sticks for Enzo Maresca’s side. He pulled off a couple of fine saves in each half. Heidenheim managed to get the ball into the back of the net twice after the interval, only to be denied by the offside flag.
The only blot on Chelsea’s evening was the red card (second yellow) to young Italian midfielder Cesare Casadei towards the end of the game.
CFC will now host Aston Villa this weekend in the Premier League.
