Netherlands 2-2 Germany Match Report

Denis Undav scored on his first start for Germany as Die Mannschaft drew 2-2 with the Netherlands in an entertaining Nations League fixture in Amsterdam. The result sees Julian Nagelsmann’s men sit on top of Group B on goal difference after two rounds of matches.

The Dutch had a dream start to the game, with Tijjani Reijnders scoring in the 2nd minute of the game for them. However, an error from Matthijs de Ligt saw Germany draw level in the 38th minute.

The Manchester United centre-back’s poor pass was pounced upon by the Germans, and the move culminated in Undav scoring his first goal in national colours. There was more pain to come for the Dutch as the visitors doubled their lead in first-half stoppage time, with Robert Andrich and David Raum combining to set up Joshua Kimmich.

Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman rang in the changes and took off De Ligt at half time, with Brighton’s Jan Paul van Hecke making his senior debut as a replacement.

Denzel Dumfries, who had missed a glorious first-half headed chance, atoned for his error by scoring the Netherlands’ second in the 50th minute. There were no further goals, and the game finished in a 2-2 draw.

The two sides will meet again in Munich next month.
