Chelsea 4-4 Man City: Premier League Match Result & Report

Cole Palmer scored a stoppage time equaliser against his former club as Chelsea followed up their 4-1 win over Spurs with a 4-4 draw against defending champions Manchester City. The result leaves Pep Guardiola’s side just a point ahead of Liverpool, whom they will play in their first game after the international break.

City took the lead at the Bridge through a controversial penalty, with Erling Haaland sending Robert Sanchez the wrong way from the spot. A header from veteran Thiago Silva brought Chelsea back on level terms, and they then went ahead in the 37th minute through Raheem Sterling.

Manuel Akanji’s header on the stroke of half time made it 2-2, and City took the lead almost immediately after the interval through Haaland’s second of the game.

However, the goals continued to flow- Connor Gallagher’s first-time effort was spilt by Ederson and the rebound fell to Nicolas Jackson, who made no mistake from close range.

Rodri’s 86th minute strike restored City’s lead, but there was further drama to come as Ruben Dias was adjudged to have fouled Armando Broja in stoppage time, and Palmer stepped up to convert the resultant spot kick and give Chelsea a share of the spoils.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues will now square off against Newcastle after the break.
